The upcoming ‘Aaliyah: Princess of R&B’ film has been greeted with more than a little criticism from fans of the fallen R&B singer, as well has her family who has tried to stop production of the movie.
After clearances were not allowed to use Aaliyah’s music in the film and the family expressed their disapproval of it being made without their blessing, the then lead actress Zendaya dropped out of the film. Now the film which will air on November 15, has a new Aaliyah in young rising star Alexandra Shipp.
Shipp sat down with ‘Entertainment Tonight’ recently and dished on why she decided to take on the role after all the backlash that was received. She also revealed that she will be singing every song herself and even gave a little taste of her Aaliyah vocals.
