New Edition and its founding members are riding high on the success of ‘The New Edition Story’ which brought in well over 20 million views for BET in its first week of airing.
This week, 3/6 of the group, Bell Biv Devoe, stopped by New York’s Hot 97 to chat with Ebro In The Morning to discuss the film, their legacy, their new album ‘Three Stripes,’ and how they survived during the low points of the group.
In a real candid moment toward the closing of the interview, Mike Bivens slightly checks Ebro for some BBD shade he has thrown to the group over the past few years and didn’t allow them to perform at the highly coveted Summer Jam.
Mike addressed on camera the fact that long before the movie and its current success, he’s been requesting with Ebro directly via email/text to have BBD be part of the annual Summer Jam show, considering that their record ‘Poison’ plays in heavy rotation at the show, and all year round on the station.
He called out Ebro for purposely ignoring messages from him requesting to perform, and acknowledges that now due to the success and hype of the film, now the station wanted to have them on. Get into the moment below.
