Beyonce‘s “Formation World Tour” made its stop in her hometown of Houston, Texas on Saturday night (May 7) and while thousands of fans inside cheered on their Queen Bey, outside it was a totally different story.
Members of Houston’s ‘Coalition of Police and Sheriffs’ (COPS) held a protest near the venue to combat what they still feel is Bey’s “anti police message” following the release of the “Formation” video and Superbowl performance back in February.
Despite the fact that Bey recently addressed and clarified in Elle Magazine that she is NOT anti police but is anti police brutality and injustice, that fell on deaf ears of those detractors who protested. Her exact quote from the Elle interview:
“I have so much admiration and respect for officers and the families of the officers who sacrifice themselves to keeps us safe,” she said. “But let’s be clear: I am against police brutality and injustice. Those are two separate things.”
For months, the protests have been planned around the country at various stops of her tour, which is what prompted Bey to launch her “Boycott Beyonce” memorabilia to be sold at her tour as we told you HERE.
