Big Tigger is taking a step back from the mic.
The longtime radio and television personality, whose real name is Darian Morgan, announced Sunday night that he is stepping away from The Big Tigger Morning Show on Atlanta’s V-103 as his personal and legal matters continue to play out publicly.
In a statement shared to his Instagram, Tigger said his focus throughout his career has been on the culture and the people he interviews, but that his personal life has now become the subject of public speculation. He added that being away from his son has been the most difficult part of the situation, and said he is stepping away for now to focus on his family and allow his legal team space to handle the matter.
Tigger also reiterated that he denies the allegations against him and said he looks forward to clearing his name.
The announcement comes after weeks of public attention surrounding allegations made by his estranged wife, Alicia Brown. According to reports, Morgan was arrested by Sandy Springs Police on charges including aggravated battery, battery, and third-degree cruelty to children following an alleged domestic dispute at the couple’s home.
Court documents cited in local reports allege that Brown told investigators Morgan shoved her into an office door during an argument, causing a deep cut above her eye that required stitches. Police also alleged the couple’s 13-year-old son was upstairs during the incident and heard the altercation.
Morgan has denied the allegations. Brown was reportedly granted a temporary protective order requiring Morgan to stay away from her, their home, and their children while the matter moves forward.
The situation has also expanded beyond the domestic case. Francesca Amiker, Tigger’s V-103 co-host and former 11Alive anchor, recently filed a federal defamation lawsuit against Brown. In the suit, Amiker alleges Brown made false social media posts accusing her of having an affair with Morgan and implying she was connected to Brown’s injuries. Amiker denies having any relationship with Morgan beyond being professional colleagues.
The claims in Amiker’s lawsuit have not been proven in court, and Brown has not yet filed a formal response. Brown’s team previously issued a statement saying she would not comment on specific allegations while multiple matters are pending, adding that the legal process and evidence would speak for themselves.
At this time, it is unclear how long Big Tigger will remain away from his radio duties or whether V-103 will make any additional changes to the show.
