The conversation regarding the Oscars and their lack of diversity and inclusion is quickly becoming a hot topic following social media outrage over the lack of minority nominations in major categories for the second year in a row.
As I told you, Jada Pinkett Smith has spoken out over the weekend in an attempt to launch a boycott of the 2016 Oscars and gained the support of many so far including Spike Lee. Well now the Academy themselves are speaking out on the matter.
The Oscars Academy President, Cheryl Boone Isaacs issued a formal letter on late Monday evening (Jan 18) just minutes before midnight addressing her concerns surrounding the continuous Oscars snubs to African Americans and other minorities. Cheryl just so happens to be a black woman herself and says she does understand the frustration and is calling for more diversity and acceptance. Get into the letter below.

For those unaware, the Academy board consists of roughly 95% white males who are all middle aged. Definitely not a diverse group that one would expect to represent all nationalities and minorities when its time for nominations. Hopefully the backlash will put fire under the Academy to get their membership changes done quicker.
