Jada Pinkett Smith is finally addressing the Oscars slap that went down between her husband, Will Smith and Chris Rock.
In March, Will stormed the stage at the Academy Awards and slapped comedian and presenter Chris Rock after he made a joke comparing Jada’s shaved head to Demi Moore’s hairstyle in the 1997 film “G.I. Jane.”
While the world has been waiting to hear from Jada on the moment and slap that made national headlines, she’s been noticeably silent. Will issued an apology following the incident but Jada has remained mute and many speculated that she would address the matter in her ‘Red Table Talk’ series.
As expected she has! Jada directly addressed the Oscars night slap on Wednesday during a “really important” Red Table Talk episode on alopecia.
“Considering what I’ve been through and what happened at the Oscars, thousands have reached out to me with their stories.
“Now, about Oscar night…My deepest hope is that these two intelligent, capable men have an opportunity to heal, talk this out and reconcile the state of the world today. We need them both, and we all actually need one another more than ever. Until then, Will and I are continuing to do what we have done for the last 28 years. And that’s keep figuring out this thing called life together.”
While the episode focused solely on alopecia, she did not get into the Oscars incident more than the brief mention at the end of the episode. On Thursday, friend of the Smith-Pinkett’s, Vivica A. Fox gave her take on the matter.
The veteran actress has been guest hosting on ‘The Wendy Williams Show’ all week and during Hot Topics, she got emotional while giving her take on it all. Vivica says that she feels that night damaged Will’s career and legacy and that Jada as his partner has taken no accountability.
Get into it below at the 6:00 mark.
