Last night legendary rap duo Salt N’Pepa hit the stage of ‘American Idol’ for the show’s 80’s themed night. The duo performed their mega classic hit ‘Push It’ and for a song that is over 30 years old it still rocks like it just came out.

Not to mention they are performing and looking just as they did when the song came out. Check out the dope performance below.

Despite the fact that the ladies brought the heat, it appears the show is suffering a major ratings loss. The series went from being FOX’s no.1 show to its no.2 after ‘Empire’ came and swept the ratings.

Idol’s ratings were still steady the past few weeks as it was the lead in show for ‘Empire’ but it appears last night which was the first in several weeks that Empire did not air since it’s season finale aired last Wednesday. As a result Idol saw a major dive in ratings via Deadline.com

The throwback two-hour show’s ratings drop 26% from its one-hour last original of March 11 (fast nationals to fast nationals). Compared to the final numbers of that Idol two weeks ago, last night’s show was down 29% and sunk 73% from what the Empire finale drew in the 8-10 PM slot.

In preliminary numbers, that’s a season low for Idol, though the show commonly sees adjustments in final numbers, so it certainly could change. Compared to March 19’s 2-hour Idol, which had no Empire companionship, last night slipped 5% among the demo. The 14th season of Idol wraps up on May 13.
