This weekend the highly anticipated and much criticized Lifetime biopic ‘Aaliyah: Princess of R&B’ is set to air on Saturday on the network.

On Wednesday, Wendy Williams who is the executive producer of the film had guest Alexandra Shipp stop by her show to talk about the movie, taking on the highly scrutinized role and the pressure. She reveals that she was in the running for the role back in the beginning stages when the movie first came about before Wendy came on board to EP.

She reveals that she was overlooked for the role when they initially went with Zendaya Coleman until Zendaya backed out.  She also talked about another big role she has coming up in another biopic.
