Andy Cohen was fresh off of a super-successful Bravocon less than two weeks ago, and now the Bravo boss is caught up in the middle of a Housewives mess that has forced him to issue a public apology to Garcelle Beauvais.
Almost a week after the second part of ‘The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills’ reunion aired on October 20, host Andy took to his radio show to address the recent controversy and backlash to his handling of Garcelle after she went head-to-head with Lisa Rinna and Erika Girardi.
During the quarrel, Lisa made the revelation that she was, in fact, the one who threw Garcelle’s book, ‘Love Me As I Am’ in Erika’s trash can and NOT Erika as previously suspected. In true “mean girl” fashion, they also revealed that there is a separate RHOBH group chat that includes the majority of the cast and not Garcelle, and Sutton Stracke.
Garcelle (who moments before had just finished sparing with fellow castmember Diana Jenkins over the online racist attacks and death threats aimed at Garcelle’s 14-year-old son, Jax believed to have come from Diana) was now defending herself against her other two castmates and could be seen visibly holding back tears and frustration.
However, instead of coming to Garcelle’s aid or defense, host Andy made a joke and chuckled with Lisa and Erika over the book fiasco, and instead of addressing the matter made it about Lisa’s lack of recycling.
Fans have been going wild on social media and flooding Andy’s comments on Twitter, and Instagram over their frustration that he instead rerouted the conversation away from Beauvais’s being bullied on both television and social media and instead directed the line of questioning toward Rinna’s recycling habits.
The backlash was so strong he could not ignore it and took to Radio Andy on Monday to address the matter and issue a public apology to Garcelle.
“I really need to sincerely apologize, not only for diverting the topic but for, even worse, not returning to the serious conversation that was at hand.”
“I have deep admiration for Garcelle. She and I had a really good, productive conversation last Thursday. I should’ve been more in tune with her feelings. So I just wanted to say that, because I’ve been logging in. I get it.”

Still, frustrated fans are calling Andy’s bluff and feel like his apology isn’t sincere, and have even likened his behavior to claims previously made by NeNe Leakes over racism and favoritism at Bravo and by Andy himself.
