Everyone was tuned into Sunday’s MTV Video Music Awards to see Beyonce and her show stopping perfomance of mostly all of her visual album ‘Lemonade’. In true Queen Bey fashion, she shut it all the way down, but we almost forgot that she was up for 11 awards for the night-the most nominations any artist has received in one night for the show.
Well now that the show is over, it has been confirmed that she officially broke Madonna’s record as the artist with the most VMA’s. Via Billboard:
Beyonce officially has the most VMAs ever.
With her wins at the 2016 awards, she passes Madonna as the most decorated artist.
Before Sunday night (Aug. 28), Beyonce had 16 Moonmen and Madonna had 20. But Beyonce’s six awards put her over the top.
Beyonce dedicated her video of the year award for “Formation” to “the people of New Orleans.”
Bey also took home best female video for “Hold Up” and swept the technical nominations with “Formation.”
