We reported last week that Janet Jackson was set to drop her new single within the next 30 days but now Billboard has confirmed the report and has more details on the album. According to the outlet in an article posted today (June 1), Janet Jackson’s next studio album will be released by BMG, Billboard has confirmed. More details on the release are forthcoming.

BMG traditionally has been more of a distributor for artists and not an actual “label” so it would appear that Jan is planning to release the project via her own imprint with BMG acting simply as her distributor. We must say we think this is a brilliant idea considering the lack of support she received from her label during her last release. Now she can make the music she desires with her own vision without label input or sabotage, depending on how you look at it (see L.A. Reid’s treatment of ‘Discipline’)

The confirmation comes just days after Jan was spotted at rehearsals in LA for her upcoming world tour which will coincide with the new album.

Are you as excited as we are!!??
