We showed you Ciara‘s performance earlier this week at the MLB All Star Game where she performed the “Star Spangled Banner”. The “Body Party” performer received mixed reviews on the performance with opinions split down the middle as to whether the performance was good or down right horrible.
Well Cici has opened up on to Access Hollywood and revealed that she encountered some major technical difficulty just seconds before the performance, which she attributes to why the “sound” was off.
“For me it was such a great challenge; it was something I wanted to do for a long time. It was like me facing my fear that I’ve had since I was really young… I feel like you can never be fully prepared for performances like that — because basically right before it’s time to go live on TV my [mic] pack goes out.
My background singer — thank God for her — she tossed me her pack, but her levels were completely different than mine. And I’m like, I’m prepared for this, what are the chances that this happens right now? But I was like, you know what, this is something that I’ve always wanted to do, so I was like, ‘Let’s just go for it.’
So she tossed me her pack, you could probably see me moving so fast to put my pack back there. So I got out there and I go, ‘Wow, there’s so much delay.’ So I’m like, ‘Find your inner voice. Ignore the delays. Find your calm.’ And it was honestly the most exciting thing to be a part of, that I was like… the show must go on.”
