A man who police said was armed with some sort of gun (possibly a replica) and a knife rushed a stage and tackled comedian Dave Chappelle as he was performing on Tuesday night at a Los Angeles comedy festival at the Hollywood Bowl.
The incident occurred as the comedian was performing at the ‘Netflix Is A Joke’ Festival special and was reportedly being filmed, so attendees’ phones were confiscated at the gate, so video and photos are very sparse. However, there is blurry cell phone footage that an attendee was able to capture somehow.

The Los Angeles Police Department early Wednesday confirmed that the attacker, who was an audience member did have weapons and rushed the stage with it out and aimed at Dave.
The man was detained by the venue’s security team and later taken to the hospital with “superficial injuries,” the LAPD also confirmed.
Multiple accounts posted online said the man was corralled by security — and possibly fellow comedian Jamie Foxx. They also confirmed that Dave was unharmed and although slightly frazzled, he returned to the stage to continue his show and even made a joke regarding the attack.
