Southside with You a film based on the love story of a young Barack Obama and Michelle Obama has reportedly been in the works for some time now as we previously told you.
The film will tell the story of the Obamas’ first date in the summer of 1989, during which the couple went to see Spike Lee’s Do the Right Thing and shared their first kiss outside an ice cream parlor and ultimately how their love blossomed to where it is now.
Now we have the first photos from the set of newcomer Parker Sawyers and Tika Sumpter who are portraying the couple courtesy of PEOPLE. Tika looks stunning as Michelle Robinson (before she took Barack’s last name) and Parker is a dead ringer for a young Barack. No release date has been announced yet but we can’t wait for it!
