If you are like me, you have been sleeping on Adele, but since her sudden announcement days ago that she was returning to the game after a four year hiatus the singer is definitely making up for lost time.

Since the release of her new single “Hello” and its accompanying video were released on Friday, October 23rd she has been kicking ass and taking names.

With very little promotion and notice of her return, her “Hello” video received over 23 million views on Vevo & Youtube in under 24 hours, and has already surpassed the former queen of views, Taylor Swift.

Before Adele, Taylor held the record of 20.1 million views in 24 hours for “Bad Blood.” However Adele beat this feat on the strength of just the song and anticipation, whereas Taylor had a star studded video which was promoted heavily for weeks and rolled out in grand style at the “MTV Video Music Awards”.

According to reports, Taylor’s “Bad Blood” video stole the crown from Nicki Minaj’s “Anaconda” video, which had 19.6 million views in a 24-hour span. Prior to Minaj’s video, Miley Cyrus’ “Wrecking Ball” video held the record with 19.3 million.

Fans are now watching to see if Adele will steal another of Swift’s records, her most recent. Four days ago, “Blank Space” became the most-watched VEVO video of all time, according to Billboard..time will tell.
