Jay-Z didn’t bite his tongue while accepting his Grammy for the Dr. Dre Global Impact Award at Sunday nights 2024 Grammys.
As Jay took to the stage accompanied by his daughter, Blue Ivy, the Hip Hop mogul addressed the crowd and took the opportunity to critique the Recording Academy for “not getting it right” in the past.
Hov addressed the infamous 1989 Hip Hop boycott held by Will Smith, DJ Jazzy Jeff, Salt-N-Pepa, and more because the category was not being televised. He also addressed his boycott of the Grammys in 1998 after he was nominated but DMX (who released two No.1 albums that same year) was not nominated at all.
Jay then addressed the fact that his wife, Beyonce holds the record as the most decorated Grammy winner of all time (32 wins), but has never won in the ‘Album Of The Year’ category–which has been a hot topic for years.
