Mariah Carey To Receive Icon Award at 2019 Billboard Music Awards

Following the likes of Janet Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Prince, Jennifer Lopez, Celine Dion, Cher and more, Mariah Carey will be honored with the Icon Award at the upcoming 2019 Billboard Music Awards.

The official announcement came on Thursday and fans will get to see it when it will air live from MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Wednesday, May 1, at 8 p.m. ET/PT with host Kelly Clarkson.

Carey led the Billboard Hot 100 in each year of the 1990s, making her the only artist to top the chart in every year of any decade, and has had 18 total No. 1s on the chart, the most among any soloist. Additionally, her 79 total weeks ruling the Hot 100 are the most of any artist. Six of her albums claimed the No. 1 spot of the Billboard 200 albums chart.

Mariah also took to social media to share the news.
