The “Today” show summer concert series kicked off Friday morning live from New York City’s Rockefeller Plaza. To kick it off in grand style Mariah Carey performed and promoted her upcoming album Me. I Am Mariah…The Elusive Chanteuse, due May 27.
The singer performed a number of her hits including ‘Always Be My Baby’, ‘Touch My Body’ and even debuted a new song from her album with an appearance by Wale who features on the song. However, attendees at the performance left feeling bamboozled after an alleged lip sync malfunction.
During the televised version of her ‘Always Be My Baby’ performance fans heard the song as they are used to it (although a little shaky). For attendees at the actual taping it was another story. After messing up the words and acknowledging it to the audience, Mariah proceeded to sing the bridge and end of the song where a lot of her big notes come in following and apparently her notes didn’t get the memo. To see what we mean, watch the audience footage vs. the televised footage below.

Interesting, the notes literally vanish in the “live” clip.
