The honors just keep coming for Missy Elliott!
After receiving her honorary doctorate, getting a street named after her in her hometown, and receiving her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, now the Hip Hop titan is kicking off 2023 by receiving yet another prestigious honor.
The multi-platinum superstar is set to be honored by the Recording Academy as part of this year’s GRAMMY festivities with the 2023 Global Impact Award.
The Recording Academy and the Black Music Collective will also honor Dr. Dre, Lil Wayne, and Epic Records CEO, Sylvia Rhone with the coveted award.
The trophies, awarded for “personal and professional achievements in the music industry,” will be handed out at the Hollywood Palladium on Thursday, February 2 just days before the 2023 GRAMMYs air on Sunday.
