Can you imagine Mo’Nique in the role of Cookie Lyon on ‘Empire’ instead of Taraji P.Henson? Well according to Mo’Nique she almost had the role but FOX executives “blackballed” her from that too due to her alleged attitude.
Following her interview on CNN we showed you, Mo’Nique stopped by ‘Inside Edition’ and revealed that Lee Daniels offered her the role of the spitfire Cookie and even sent her the script.
“Maybe four days had gone by, and I hadn’t heard anything. So I’m trying to reach out to him to say, what time do I need to be in? Where do I need to be? When he finally returned the call, he says listen, the executives at Fox said that you’re difficult.”
“Mo’Nique are you difficult to work with? This is Lee Daniels, your friend, saying these things.” she was asked by Trent during the interview.
“When I hear Mr. Daniels making those comments, he and I know that that’s not true,” she said.
We think this situation worked out for the best, we can’t see anyone playing the role of Cookie the way Taraji does. Check out a clip of Mo’Nique’s interview below.
