The 57th annual Grammy’s just concluded and one of the highlights of the night hands down goes to Kanye West. When it was announced that artist Beck won ‘Album of the Year’ over Beyonce, Yeezy ran up on stage seconds after Beck approached the mic.
The moment was a hilarious gesture which poked fun at the infamous time when Kanye crashed Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech at the MTV VMAs in 2009: “Yo, Taylor, I’m really happy for you, I’m [going to] let you finish — but Beyoncé had one of the best videos of all time,” Kanye said.
Well tonight Yeezy had everyone in fear as he crashed the stage again but this time as a joke. Check it out below in case you missed it.
Well following the big show, Kanye and Kim Kardashian stopped by the ‘After Party’ on E! which was being hosted by Terrence J, Kim’s sister Khloe Kardashian, and Christina Milian.
During the stop, Kanye let loose and revealed that although his running to the stage was a “joke” he strongly feels that Beck should not have won the award. In fact Kanye says that Beck should respect the artistry that is Beyonce and should have given her his award. Yeezy went on to trash the Grammy board and even took shots at the E! network on which he was appearing and which is also the home of his wife’s show ‘Keeping Up with the Kardashians’.
“I don’t know what he said, all I know is if the Grammys want real artists to keep coming back, they need to stop playing with us. We ain’t gonna play with them no more. ‘Flawless,’ Beyoncé video. Beck needs to respect artistry and he should have given his award to Beyoncé, and at this point, we tired of it,” Yeezy declared.
Oh it didn’t stop there, Kanye continued on with his rant for several minutes which provided an extremely awkward moment for the hosts as they watched in shock.
“Because what happens is, when you keep on diminishing art and not respecting the craft and smacking people in the face after they deliver monumental feats of music, you’re disrespectful to inspiration and we as musicians have to inspire people who go to work every day and they listen to that Beyoncé album and they feel like it takes them to another place.”
“Then they do this whole promotional event, they’ll run the music over somebody’s speech, the artist, because they want commercial advertising. Like, no, we not playing with them no more. By the way, I got my wife, my daughter and my clothing line, so I’m not going to do nothing to put my daughter at risk but I am here to fight for creativity. That’s the reason why I didn’t say anything tonight. But you all know what it meant when ‘Ye walks on the stage.”
