We told you last week that despite the passing of Joan Rivers, E! announced it would continue on with ‘Fashion Police’ which is currently on break since Joan’s passing but will return in January 2015. Producers allegedly have been in search of a leading lady to fill the seat once occupied by Joan, and it was reported by multiple sources that Joan’s friend Kathy Griffin was the front runner for that spot.
Well now there is new word that Kathy may have some competition for that seat, in ‘Real Housewives of Atlanta’ star Nene Leakes. It is reported that E! producers have their eye on Nene after the success of her HSN clothing line which has done extremely well, because she has “serious comedic timing, but also because E! is looking to diversify their panel with a different ethnicity.”
In an even more shocking reveal, Tyra Banks as well as Lisa Lampanelli and Amy Schumer are also being considered for the spot. The source reveals that Tyra is the most seriously considered because of her fashion background, however, “E! is concerned she doesn’t have a sane strong enough point of view to fill Joan’s highly opinionated seat.” according to the source.
It will be quite interesting to see how this all plays out. We will say the panel could use a little diversity, and while they are making changes to the show we wouldn’t mind some of the remaining panel swapping out for some new players to keep it fresh. We will have to wait to see who takes the big seat when ‘Fashion Police’ returns in 2015.
