Its about that time, time for rumors, reports and predictions every other week of who is in and who is out of the next season of ‘Real Housewives of Atlanta’. At this point we’ve learned to take these things with a grain of salt, as there is always an “insider” who has inside scoop on the casting news. Sometimes these rumors pan out to be true but other times they don’t, and things change throughout the season as filming is going on so the final cast is never really known until Bravo releases the lineup.
With that said, this week Wetpaint is reporting:
According to LA Late, only three of the show’s current cast members are sure to be returning in the fall, with NeNe Leakes, Kenya Moore, and Kandi Burruss making the cut.
It seems that NeNe will also be getting a few new friends on the cast, with producers trying to make up for their cash cow’s difficult season by adding a few allies for her in season eight. Although the final casting decisions haven’t been made public yet, sources report that many members of Atlanta royalty are eager to earn a peach.
While there may be a few new faces on the show’s upcoming season, former housewife Sheree Whitfield won’t be one of them, despite multiple reports that she would be re-assuming her role after a few seasons away from the small screen. At least this leaves her plenty of time to work on Chateau Sheree, which is, as always, just steps away from completion.
The show’s lineup isn’t the only thing fans can expect to change — it looks like summer vacation will be cut short for the Atlanta housewives this year, with filming resuming as early as next month.
We can certainly believe the theory that Bravo will bring in more allies for Nene, since she has had a rough couple seasons and is down to about zero friends on the show at this point. We can also see Kandi always having her spot, while Kenya we aren’t quite sold on. It is saddening to hear that Phaedra and Porsha may be out, for us they are the comic relief and fun that we enjoy most on the show so for Bravo’s sake lets hope the report is wrong on that.
Elsewhere the rumors of Sheree returning have been widespread since season 7 and after Sheree dropped some hints a few weeks ago we would like to believe it is real, but as we initially said only time will tell. Kandi also revealed this week that she would love to see Sheree back.
In a new interview on The B. Scott Show, Burruss revealed that she’d be happy to see Whitfield return to the show.
“I haven’t heard anything about that, but I mean… I like Sheree. I think that she would be dope. If anybody from the past were to come back, I definitely think Sheree would be the one that I wanna see. Because, the funny thing about Sheree, it’s like — she’s funny and very…quick with her comebacks. She [doesn’t] realize that she can give you that air that’s good for TV. In her mind, she doesn’t think that she’s doing anything. It’s just naturally good television,” Burruss said.
She also revealed she is happy with the current cast but wants them to be more open.
“I want to see more people being open with their lives this year. Because, to be honest with you — people always be talkin’ ’bout ‘oh, this person don’t have a storyline, that -‘ Outside of the drama that happened on the show, I don’t really think anybody showed what was really going on in their personal lives except for Phaedra and myself. So you know, I get so sick of other people being ‘well she’s using me for –‘ Well, y’all [everybody’s] using each other for a storyline because none of y’all show anything personal about what’s going on in y’all’s personal lives! Like, really. To be honest. So, I would like to see more people who are open to really show what’s really going on in their life so that their own personal story is just as interesting as the story when we all get together and they have their arguments, or whatever,” Burruss said.
