2015 was a good year for music but especially R&B, despite some albums not getting the recognition or sales they deserved. There were several acts who came through and made some major noise and helped to push the soul stirring genre forward.
Following their declaration that Kendrick Lamar’s “To Pimp a Butterfly” was the best album of 2015, Rolling Stone has now released their official list of their top 20 R&B albums of the year and I am quite pleased with the roster of talent.
Granted there are a few standout albums from the year that didn’t make their cut that are beyond unreal to me (Tamar Braxton, Tyrese) but these are their picks, not mine. Check out a few of their selections below that I totally co-sign and were some of my fave albums this year.
Ty Dolla Sign ‘Free TC’
August Alsina ‘This Thing Called Life’
Janet Jackson ‘Unbreakable’
Jazmine Sullivan ‘Reality Show’
