When news broke weeks ago that Madonna would be delivering the first televised tribute to Prince on Sundays Billboard Music Awards, many held their breath to see how it would turn out. Despite the fact that fans launched a petition to get Madge booted from the performance, the BBMAs kept her and added Stevie Wonder in to appease some viewers.
Well last night was the big night and as expected, the performance left much to be desired. In fact, many were over it within the first few minutes. The backlash prompted Madonna to take to Instagram to address it.
“Anyone who wants to do a tribute to Prince is welcome to. Whatever your age Gender or skin Color. If you loved him and he inspired you then show it!!!! I love Prince 4 ever ??????????????” she wrote in a post on Monday, May 23.

Well BET took to their social media just moments after the performance to declare to disappointed fans that they would make up for the BBMA’s bad performance at their upcoming 2016 BET Awards. The outlet promises a more fitting tribute, better suited for his purple greatness with more peers who were close to and influenced by the icon. Get into their shade below.
