The world is on pins and needles waiting to see what Janet Jackson will do next as part of her musical return to the world this year. Since announcing her comeback earlier this summer, the iconic performer has been selling out shows at lightening speed for her upcoming Unbreakable World Tour which went on sale a little over a month ago, been honored at the 2015 BET Awards with the first ever “Ultimate Icon tribute” and released her first single “No Sleeep” and its accompanying visual with rapper J. Cole.
Alas, as always with her amazing career which spans three decades–everyone is watching and wondering “What will Janet do next?” and despite “No Sleeep” having moderate success on Billboard charts so far, many of her critics and quite frankly haters are skeptical of whether Janet’s comeback will be successful.
Is her return being staged properly? Have people moved on from #Nipplegate which was plagued with racism and sexism? Does Janet even have anything to prove in a Taylor Swift, Rihanna, Beyonce world? One in which she laid the blueprint and the groundwork for them to even perform in.
These are all questions posed by the folks at HuffPostLive who held a round table debate centered around their ultimate question “Will Janet Jackson’s Comeback Succeed?”.There appears to be a resounding YES! but it depends on WHO you ask.
