Atlanta was on fire over the weekend as the 2019 Trumpet Awards were held in the A, and saw some of the industry’s biggest heavy hitters come together.
One of the shows honorees was super producer Rodney ‘Darkchild’ Jerkins, who received the Music Excellence Award at Saturday night’s show. Part of his tribute consisted of a performance of his 13 week no. 1 smash hit ‘The Boy Is Mine‘ crafted for Brandy and Monica.
In lieu of the two divas, Sevyn Streeter and Justine Skye stepped in to perform the track as well as a few of the other hits sung by the ladies. Sevyn additionally performed ‘What About Us’ while Skye also performed Monica’s ‘Angel of Mine’ as well.
The show will air Feb. 11 on Bounce TV, but you can get into a taser of their performance below.
